As the Manager, Design Production (Canada), you will lead the Canada-based CAD design and drafting team,
providing drafting, field inspection, and design production support across all engineering disciplines and project
types — including electrical distribution, land development, building engineering, and data centre MEP work.
Reporting to the SVP & Managing Director, Global Engineering Operations, you will manage the day-to-day
workload, quality, and development of your Canadian design team while working closely with the Manager, Design
Production (India) to allocate work to the India-based design team as needed to meet project timelines and
resourcing needs.
With a background in electrical distribution design within the Land Development and Building Engineering
industry, you will personally perform QA/QC review of drawings and design deliverables produced by both the
Canada and India teams, ensuring accuracy, code compliance, and consistency across all disciplines. This role
requires strong organizational and communication skills to coordinate design production across two locations and to
support engineers and project managers across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and lead the Canada-based CAD design/drafting team (Engineering Technicians / CAD Designers) supporting all engineering disciplines
Assign, schedule, and prioritize drafting, design, and field inspection tasks across all active projects
Ensure design production deliverables meet project timelines, technical accuracy, and internal quality standards
Oversee professional development, training,
and performance management of the Canada design production team
Partner closely with the Manager, Design Production (India), to coordinate workload sharing between the Canada and India design production teams
Allocate work to the India-based CAD design team as needed to meet project deadlines and resource requirements
Establish clear file-handoff, communication, and quality protocols between the Canada and India design teams
Monitor capacity across both locations and proactively flag resourcing gaps or bottlenecks to senior management
Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC)
Perform QA/QC review of CAD drawings and design deliverables produced by both the Canada and India teams, with particular emphasis on electrical distribution design
Verify compliance with the Canadian Electrical Code, National Electrical Code, applicable energy codes, and
Identify design errors, inconsistencies, or omissions and coordinate corrections with designers and drafters
Maintain and continuously improve CAD standards, templates, and drafting best practices across the design
Field & Site Support
Support and coordinate field inspections carried out by the design production team,
ensuring field data and as-built conditions are accurately reflected in drawings
Liaise with engineering and project management teams to resolve field-identified design issues
Cross-Disciplinary & Project Support
Support drafting, design, and field inspection needs across all engineering disciplines and project types (electrical distribution, land development, building engineering, data centre MEP, utilities, etc.)
Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other Design Production and Engineering leaders to align on project scope, drawing requirements, and delivery timing
Track design production workload across projects and provide status updates to senior management
Qualifications
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in electrical distribution design/drafting within the Land
Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a closely related field of study
Demonstrated experience performing QA/QC review of CAD drawings and design deliverables
Experience managing or leading a team of CAD designers, drafters, or engineering technicians
Experience coordinating design work across multiple offices or locations (e.g., onshore/offshore teams)
Robust knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, National Electrical Code, and applicable design standards
Proficiency with CAD software and tools used in electrical distribution and multi-discipline design production
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
