Step into a rewarding role as a District Counsellor with Nechako Lakes School District, starting September 1, 2026. This position supports students with emotional and behavioural issues through direct counselling and collaboration.
Candidates must have a Bachelor of Education, a current BC teaching certificate, and a graduate degree in Counseling Psychology. The District Counsellor will work closely with school teams to provide comprehensive counselling services and ensure inclusive education practices are upheld. Applicants should be committed to ongoing professional development and engaging effectively with the community.
Key Responsibilities:
• Administer suicide risk and behavioural assessments
• Collaborate on the development of IEPs
• Facilitate social skills programs with diverse student needs
• Foster positive relationships through community engagement
• Maintain a dynamic and interactive classroom workplace
Requirements:
• Valid BC teaching certification and Bachelor of Education
• Graduate degree in Counseling Psychology
• Experience in managing behaviour disorders
• Knowledge of child abuse reporting laws
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
