Project-based opportunity | 12-hour day and night shifts | 14 days on / 14 days off

The Opportunity
Matrix is looking for experienced Heavy Duty Mechanics to support a major equipment teardown, swing bearing replacement, and reassembly project at a mine site in Nunavut. This opportunity is suited to skilled mechanics who are comfortable completing major component work in a remote, fast-paced mining environment.

The Role
You will work as part of an eight-person mechanical crew supporting the teardown and reassembly of large heavy mining equipment. The work includes swing bearing replacement, hydraulic and mechanical component removal, undercarriage support, equipment reassembly, testing, and final inspection. Mechanics will work 12-hour shifts under the direction of Matrix lead hands.

What You Will Be Doing

Complete equipment teardown and reassembly

Remove and reinstall buckets, linkages, cylinders, sticks, booms, and counterweights

Support swing motor, swing drive, and swing bearing removal and installation

Disconnect and reinstall hydraulic and mechanical components

Assist with upper structure separation and reinstallation

Support track, undercarriage, final drive, and travel motor work

Inspect components for wear, damage, and leaks

Complete final adjustments and mechanical verification

Assist with equipment testing and leak inspections

Participate in final QA/QC, cleanup, and project closeout

Follow all site procedures, lift plans,



and safe work practices

Participate in daily toolbox and safety meetings

Perform additional heavy duty mechanical work as required

What We’re Looking For

Strong heavy duty mechanical experience in mining or a similar industrial environment

Experience with major equipment teardown and component replacement

Experience working with hydraulic systems and tracked heavy equipment

Experience with swing bearings, swing drives, undercarriages, final drives, booms, sticks, cylinders, buckets, and linkage systems

Ability to read and follow mechanical procedures

Strong troubleshooting and inspection skills

Ability to work safely around cranes, rigging, and suspended loads

Previous remote mine site experience is strongly preferred

Ability to work 12-hour shifts for the full project

Robust communication, teamwork, and shift handover skills

A professional attitude and consistent commitment to safety

Schedule and Location

Nunavut (remote fly-in/fly-out project)

12-hour shifts

Day and night shift positions

14 days on / 14 days off

Mandatory site orientation before mechanical work begins

Project dates to be confirmed
