Why This Role Exists This role exists to support continued production demand across multiple industries including automotive, defense, oil & gas, mining, and commercial manufacturing.
At Fostet Manufacturing, the CNC Senior Operator runs repetitive machining operations on CNC mills and lathes, handles changeover setups on repeat parts, and assists machinists with setup and operation. Cycle time, quality, and consistency matter here — you'll verify part dimensions with precision measuring instruments, complete quality documentation, and help keep production moving safely and on schedule.
The Work You'll Be Doing In this role, you will:
Operate CNC mills and lathes to perform repetitive machining operations such as turning, milling, drilling, and boring
Handle changeover setups on repeat parts, ensuring cycle times are met before handing off
Assist machinists with the setup and operation of CNC milling and lathe machines
Load and unload parts in a safe and productive manner while maintaining cycle times
Perform quality checks, verifying part dimensions with precision measuring instruments and completing all associated quality documentation
Read, interpret, and react to CMM reports
Monitor and maintain tooling in peak condition and complete scheduled preventive maintenance
Communicate effectively with peers, engineers, quality assurance, and management
Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow all company safety practices, policies, and procedures

What We're Looking For Required
Minimum Grade 12 education
Minimum of 2-3 years of related work experience in a CNC facility/environment
Knowledge of CNC programming for mills and lathes
Robust math skills
Knowledge of SPC and the ability to analyze data
Proficient with precision measuring devices including calipers, digital indicators, micrometers, and height gauges
Ability to read blueprints, drawings, charts, tables, and quality documentation, including tolerance and surface-finish symbols
Able to read, interpret, and react to CMM reports
Solid written and verbal communication across levels within the organization
Motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail and accuracy
Available for day and evening shifts as required
