Job Summary
This position requires the incumbent to assist the teacher librarian and/or the school administration with functions required to operate the school library. The Library Assistant position supports the strategic actions of the Multi-Year Strategic Plan.

Qualifications (Education and Experience)

Completion of post-secondary training in a Library Program. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Solid knowledge of how learning resources (books, periodicals, kits, audio-visual, subscription databases, equipment, realia) are organized in a school library and circulated in print and electronic formats.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Good knowledge and experience with computer technology (Internet research, resource management).





Assist students and staff in the technical troubleshooting of minor hardware and instructional software problems.

Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently.

Ability to interact effectively with students and staff, combined with an ability to explain information regarding library services to all patrons using the school library learning commons.

Excellent verbal and written skills are required.

Conditions of Employment

Review and comply with Divisional policies and guidelines.

Continued employment is subject to maintaining legal eligibility to work in Canada.

Respect In School certification or equivalent is required.
