Role Description The Waikato Business Development Independent Contractor will focus on growing Mel Curwood's client base within the Greater Hamilton Area through a commission-only arrangement. This role involves regular in-person meetings with prospective and existing clients to understand their credit control and education needs. Day-to-day tasks include lead generation, building and managing a sales pipeline, conducting market research, and presenting tailored solutions such as workshops and training programmes. The contractor will develop and maintain robust relationships with business owners and leaders,



provide responsive customer service, and collaborate with Mel Curwood to refine offerings based on market feedback. The role requires self-management, consistent follow-through on opportunities, and proactive outreach across the Waikato business community.
Qualifications Strong Communication and Customer Service skills to engage professionally with clients, build trust, and provide high-quality support.
Lead Generation and Market Research skills to identify opportunities, understand local business needs, and develop targeted outreach strategies.
Analytical Skills to assess client cashflow challenges, interpret market data, and align solutions with business objectives.
Proven experience in business development, sales, or consulting, ideally within financial services, education, or professional services.
Ability to work independently as an independent contractor, manage time effectively, and thrive in a commission-only environment.
Knowledge of credit control, cashflow management, or related financial practices is highly beneficial.
Comfort with presenting to groups and facilitating discussions in workshops or training settings.
Valid driver's licence and reliable transport to attend on-site meetings across the Greater Hamilton Area.
