As a Counsel in the P&C; Litigation department at CGL, you will handle a variety of claims, providing legal guidance and support to colleagues and clients. Your responsibilities will include resolving litigation from referral to resolution, collaborating on complex cases, and offering legal training to claims personnel. Engaging with stakeholders to ensure effective resolutions, you will be a critical part of the legal team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage the lifecycle of bodily injury and property claims
• Collaborate with Claims colleagues to resolve litigation
• Provide assessments and legal research for various claims
• Support senior counsel on complex litigation matters
• Recommend process improvements to mitigate risks
Requirements:
• Minimum 3 years of insurance defense or personal injury experience
• Law Degree (LLB, JD, or comparable)
• Member of Ontario’s lawyer regulatory body
• Solid critical thinking and negotiation skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
