About Position
As a Commercial Flooring Estimator at Maxwell Floors, the successful candidate will be
responsible for preparing accurate material takeoffs, cost estimates, quotations, and bid
proposals for commercial flooring projects.
The role involves reviewing drawings and specifications, coordinating with contractors,
suppliers, clients, and internal teams, and managing multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills are
required to develop practical, cost-effective solutions and ensure accurate and timely

Experience
Prepare detailed and accurate material takeoffs for commercial flooring projects using Measure Square and other estimating tools.
Review and interpret architectural drawings, blueprints, specifications, scope documents, and contract documents to determine trade-specific scope of work, quantities, materials, installation requirements, and potential project risks.
Register and initiate new estimating project requests and maintain an organized project bid list for tracking and distribution.
Manage multiple estimating assignments, bid invitations, revisions,
and project deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Maintain organized and accurate estimating records, project files, quantity takeoffs, pricing information, correspondence, and supporting documentation.
Communicate with clients, general contractors, suppliers, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders to clarify drawings, specifications, design intent, material requirements, construction methods, and project scope.
Follow up on quotations and bids with clients and contractors as required, ensuring timely responses and maintaining professional communication throughout the estimating process.
Coordinate with project managers, purchasing, operations, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure estimating deliverables, material requirements, pricing, and project information are accurate and complete.
Apply strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills to identify discrepancies, resolve estimating challenges, evaluate alternatives, and develop practical and cost-effective solutions.
Prepare revisions and pricing updates in response to drawing changes, addenda, scope changes, supplier updates, and client or contractor requests.
Provide technical and estimating support to project managers and field/labour teams by assisting with material requirements, site-related issues, and practical solutions to help ensure work is completed in accordance with contract documents.
Maintain a logical, project-specific electronic filing system and ensure all estimating and project documentation is properly organized and accessible.
Continuously develop knowledge of commercial flooring products, installation methods, estimating practices, supplier pricing, construction documents, and industry standards through ongoing training and professional development.
Support the estimating department in improving estimating procedures, maintaining pricing information, and developing efficient processes to improve accuracy, competitiveness, and turnaround times.
Required Skills and Experience
BCIT ABT (Architectural and Building Technology) or equivalent education and/or training
Experience using Measure Square or similar estimating software.
Ability to read and interpret commercial construction drawings and specifications.
Excellent communication, customer service, and relationship-building skills.
Solid organizational and time management abilities.
Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
A self-motivated individual with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
