Mercor is hiring PhD scientists to tackle AI evaluation tasks that challenge contemporary models. This part-time role is designed for those with a mathematics background wanting to make a scientific impact.
As part of an exciting recent benchmark initiative, your role at Mercor will focus on authoring executable research problems in domains such as numerical linear algebra and computational mechanics. Your expertise will help facilitate AI advancements by pinpointing areas where leading models struggle, ensuring more comprehensive evaluation techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design original research problems sourced from various materials
• Write appropriate scientific prompts for AI tasks
• Establish detailed grading criteria for evaluations
• Assess task performance against current AI models
• Document and report on task calibrations effectively
Requirements:
• PhD in mathematics, computational mathematics, or related fields
• Proficient in at least two key mathematical subdomains
• Strong programming skills in Python for scientific purposes
• Comfortable using Git, GitHub, and Docker
• Ability to handle project workflows with quality assurance
