The Planning, Development & Real Estate Department is hiring an Auxiliary Plan Checker 2 to oversee plan reviews for larger complex constructions. This role involves discussing project plans with stakeholders and ensuring compliance with provincial building codes and city bylaws. You will also provide support and training to your colleagues in plan checking, as well as perform inspections for minor permitted works like sign installations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review complex commercial and residential building plans
• Communicate with stakeholders regarding non-conformance issues
• Guide plan checking staff and provide training
• Conduct inspections of permitted works for compliance
• Ensure adherence to building codes and municipal regulations
Requirements:
• Diploma of Technology in Building or related field
• Extensive experience in municipal plan checking
• BOABC Level III certification or enrollment in BOIT
• Solid knowledge of bylaws and regulations
• Proficient in electronic plan review software and Microsoft Office
