We still make the trailers we’re known for, but we have expanded our product lineup to help meet the growing demand for energy in North America.
THE ROLE
The Engineer is responsible for a specified product or family of products, provides product-specific technical expertise and conducts such engineering activities as are required to ensure the performance, manufacturability, serviceability, quality and profitability of TYCROP Trailers products.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Conceptual and detailed product design of new products and modifications of existing designs
Communication with production personnel on improvements and resolving issues
Product documentation of product intent and verification of conformance to customer requirements
Communication of customer needs with sales and other personnel to identify value opportunities and translate them to tangible concept features and products
Development of project and operations plans, monitoring and controlling of project and operational activities to ensure compliance with time, cost and quality objectives
Creation and maintenance of product documentation within various systems
Verification of product fitness-for-purpose, cost-effectiveness, compliance, design for service, design for manufacture and risk mitigation
Documentation of best practices and experiential learning
Execution of continuous product improvement and cost reduction initiatives
Management and continuous improvement of engineering drawing packages,
work instructions and other forms of technical instruction consistent with product or brand specialization
Peer review and approval of design calculations etc. for technologists and other engineers Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Registered as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
Technologist - Diploma of Technology in a relevant engineering discipline.
Technologist - Registered as an Applied Science Technologist (AScT), or Graduate Technologist (GradTech), in British Columbia, or eligible for such registration.
KEY COMPETENCIES
Fluent technical communication
Use of standard office software
Solid modelling, experience in Solidworks, as asset
Assessment of appropriate design for manufacture and design for service
Assessment of appropriate structural integrity, which may require the application of classical structural engineering calculation or finite element analysis
Design, conduct and documentation of prototyping activities
Project and resource management
Hydraulic experience/ knowledge an asset
Electrical experience/ knowledge an asset
Information technology background an asset
Time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks or projects

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is primarily office-based but requires regular visits to the production floor.
