Are you an experienced accounting professional ready to take ownership of a complex, multi-entity financial operation?

We are seeking an experienced Controller on behalf of a well-established, diversified organization with more than 50 years of operations across Atlantic Canada and beyond. This is a unique succession opportunity supporting the organization's northern operations based in Labrador City, NL.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

Oversee full-cycle accounting and financial operations for multiple companies and business units

Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

Manage financial reporting requirements across multiple entities

Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and variance analysis

Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and related administrative functions

Lead, mentor, and support a team of approximately 2 - 4 accounting and administrative staff

Establish and maintain effective financial controls, policies, and processes

Coordinate year-end accounting and audit requirements

Liaise with external accountants, auditors, financial institutions, and professional advisors

Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, and company policies

Monitor cash flow and working capital requirements across multiple entities

Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting, systems, and operational efficiencies

Provide financial guidance and support to operational leaders

Experience & Attributes for Success:





CPA designation strongly preferred; CPA candidates with significant relevant experience will also be considered

Significant experience in full-cycle accounting and financial reporting

Experience supporting multiple entities or companies is considered a solid asset

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Ability to work independently and take ownership of financial operations

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Comfortable working closely with senior leadership and operational teams

Hands-on, practical approach with the ability to hit the ground running
