Title : Building Inspector

Salary: $2,788.09 - $3,676.80 biweekly | $72,738.51 - $95,923.91 annually
BSA: $279.98 - $286.86 biweekly benefit spending allowance.
Total Compensation: $80,042.84 -$103,407.75 annually

Are you passionate about ensuring that construction meets the highest standards of safety and compliance? Do you have a keen eye for detail and a knack for problem solving? If so, we want you to join our team as a Building Inspector. Reporting to the Manager of Building Inspection, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and integrity of our community's construction projects. You will assist with customer service, perform plan examinations, and conduct inspections to ensure compliance with approved designs and relevant regulations. Your expertise will help facilitate successful construction practices, mediate disputes, and help enforce by-laws, Acts and Regulations with a focus on positive customer service.

Essential

To be considered for this position, applicants must demonstrate the following:

- Certified Engineering Technician.
- NBCBO certification.
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in building inspections.
- Valid Class V driver's license.
- Knowledge of building construction, the NBC and other regulations applicable to the position.
- Proficiency in computer applications is required.

What You'll Do

- Issue building permits and conduct site inspections to verify conformance with approved plans and handle related enforcement as necessary.
- Interact with design professionals, contractors, and the public to address inquiries related to NBC, by-laws and other regulations.
- Examine plans for compliance with NBC and applicable legislation.
- Collaborate with other authorities and departments to ensure efficient processing of permits and adherence to residential maintenance and occupancy regulations.
- Administer and enforce building by-laws and other pertinent legislation.
- Provide backup for the building inspection counter to provide top-notch customer service, review permit applications, and support general office functions.
- Utilize computer systems as an integral part of daily tasks and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
