Underground Mine Geologist
Location: True North Mine, Bissett, Manitoba (Camp-Based)

Schedule: 14 Days On / 14 Days Off Rotation (12-Hour Shifts)
Work Location: This position is based at the True North Mine site. Camp accommodations and meals are provided during scheduled work rotations.
Position Overview
1911 Gold Corporation is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Underground Mine Geologist to support underground production and mine development activities at the True North Mine in Bissett, Manitoba.
Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, the successful candidate will provide technical geological support to underground mining operations through grade control, geological mapping, sampling, ore delineation, and data collection. This role plays a critical part in optimizing ore extraction, improving geological understanding of the deposit, and supporting safe, efficient mining operations.
The Underground Mine Geologist will conduct daily underground inspections, perform face mapping and scanning, monitor ore movement, and collaborate closely with Mine Operations, Engineering, and Technical Services to provide timely geological guidance. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement in a dynamic underground mining setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Grade Control & Ore Delineation
- Conduct daily underground inspections, geological mapping, sampling, and geological interpretation.
- Perform chip sampling, ore tracking, and grade control activities.
- Identify and communicate ore boundaries and geological changes to Mine Operations.
- Support dilution control initiatives to maximize ore recovery.
Geological Data Management & Reporting
- Record and track underground ore movement within geological databases.
- Enter daily sampling information and maintain geological tracking records.
- Update the geological logbook and maintain accurate geological documentation.
- Ensure timely collection, validation, and reporting of geological information.
Underground Technical Support
- Provide real-time geological guidance to underground operations.
- Communicate geological risks and opportunities to Mine Operations, Engineering, and Technical Services.
- Support short-term mine planning through geological interpretation and recommendations.
- Assist with test hole planning, delineation drilling, face scanning, and underground geological investigations.
Software & Technical Systems
- Utilize Leapfrog and Deswik software to support geological interpretation and mine planning.
- Maintain accurate geological records and support continuous improvement of geological data management processes.
Required Experience & Skill Set
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent).
Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of underground mining geology experience.
- Experience with underground grade control and ore delineation.
- Experience with underground geological mapping and sampling techniques.
Professional Designation
- Registered, or eligible for registration,
as a Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) in the Province of Manitoba.
Key Competencies
- Strong understanding of underground mining methods and orebody controls.
- Experience interpreting geological data and providing operational recommendations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a production-focused setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Leapfrog and Deswik software.
- Experience with orogenic gold deposits and structural geology is considered an asset.
Job Requirements & Working Conditions
- Ability to work 12-hour day and night shifts on a 14-on / 14-off rotation.
- Comfortable working underground in an active shaft-supported mining environment.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 25 kg.
