The role supports operations and projects related to stations, maintenance centres, rail infrastructure, fueling facilities and rights‑of‑way, ensuring assets are safe, compliant, sustainable, and operationally fit for purpose.Acting as a key advisor both in the office and in the field, the incumbent integrates environmental, safety, and asset‑management requirements into all phases of operations and project development. The role contributes directly to long‑term asset stewardship, risk mitigation and informed investment decision‑making.ResponsibilitiesProject and Operation SupportSupport and coordinate operational and capital projects related to fixed assets, including planning, execution, monitoring, and close‑outEnsure projects are delivered with appropriate controls for quality, cost, schedule, safety, and environmental performanceParticipate in site meetings,
work monitoring, and coordination with internal teams, consultants, and contractorsEnvironmental Integration and ComplianceIntegrate environmental requirements into project scopes, designs, specifications, and construction activitiesProvide expertise related to soils, materials management, contaminated sites, and environmental risk mitigationSupport regulatory permitting, approvals, and liaison with authorities as requiredContribute to long‑term rehabilitation and remediation programmes, including activities under the Federal Contaminated Sites Action Plan (FCSAP)Monitoring, Audits and Continuous ImprovementConduct site inspections, audits and field reviews to verify compliance with permits, standards, and contractual requirementsParticipate in facility compliance audits with regulatory authoritiesSupport incident investigations, root‑cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actionsLead the Fixed Asset Management and support the VIA Environmental teams in urgent situations (leaks, spills, releases)Develop, improve and apply tools, templates, procedures and indicators related to asset, safety and environmental managementGovernance and Process AlignmentEnsure projects and activities align with established methodologies, PMO standards and internal processesContribute to performance reporting, documentation control and continuous improvement initiatives across Fixed Asset ManagementProduce regulatory compliance documents such as semi‑annual Halocarbon release reports, storage tank inventory reviews,
