The Department of Sociology and Anthropology of the University of Prince Edward Island invites applications for a sessional instructor to teach the following course in the Winter 2027 Semester.

This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

Please note: the course will be taught as an online course.

SOC-2900 Introduction to Social Work (3 Credits)

This course provides students with an overview of the foundations and practice of social work. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the historical development of social work in Canada, what social workers do, the setting and methods used as part of social work, and the opportunities available to professionally trained social workers. The course includes an evaluation of emerging issues and future directions.

Three hours a week

Qualifications:

Successful applicants will have a graduate degree or a doctoral degree in Social Work. Please note that applicants on the UPEI sessional roster for Sociology and Anthropology will be considered first.
