Annual salary: $ 158,900.00 - 200,900.00

What you'll do

The Senior Manager, Marketing & Customer Engagement leads the development and execution of integrated marketing
and product strategies that support BC Hydro’s corporate objectives and brand reputation, our Power smart initiatives and
strengthens the customer experience. In this role you will be responsible for the overall go-to-market strategy to drive
participation and growth in BC Hydro’s flagship programs and retail offers. This role provides strategic leadership to a
multidisciplinary team and works closely with business leaders across the organization to deliver customer focused
communications, digital products and marketing programs.

This position is instrumental in supporting the rapid change that BC Hydro and the industry is undergoing as the demand for
electricity is growing at an unprecedented rate. BC Hydro is meeting this challenge by introducing their largest every Power
smart plan encompassing more energy saving products and programs and customer rewards. This includes the launch of a
new digital app to better meet customers’ needs. The Senior Manager will be responsible for developing the strategic
framework and integrated plan needed to grow participation in our products and services and to create seamless and
positive experience for our customers. You will be responsible for managing the team who will deliver on this challenge.

In this position you will oversee the team responsible for developing BC Hydro’s major campaigns, elevating brand
awareness and driving digital experience. Owned, earned and paid channels including websites, apps, social media, and
email are activated through this team. This position supervises approximately 60 team members, several contractors, along
with direct reports while managing a substantial budget. The team includes Integrated Marketing, Social Media and
Content, Digital Strategy and Operations, Brand and Creative Services and Community Outreach, Sponsorship and the
Schools program.

Key Responsibilities include:

STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP





- Develop and implement an integrated marketing and go-to-market strategy and plan aligned with BC Hydro’s business

goals.

- Lead annual planning and prioritization of customer campaigns and programs.

- Develop the framework to effectively translate business priorities into customer focused marketing and communications

plans.

- Identify opportunities to improve brand awareness and reputation, enhance customer engagement and build

organizational resilience and effectiveness.

- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders.

INTEGRATED MARKETING LEADERSHIP

- Develop integrated marketing campaigns across digital, advertising, social, events, emails and owned channels.

- Lead brand strategy and governance. This includes setting guidelines and clear processes to ensure employees and

partners appropriately represent the BC Hydro brand.

- Develop strong relationships across the organization to enable integrated planning. This would include collaborating with:

Customer Experience Team, Product Marketing and Customer Key Accounts, Regulatory Affairs, Information Technology,
Government and Media Relations, Human Resources and the Executive Leadership Team.

- Support communications as required for capital projects, service initiatives and outages and other BC Hydro operational

needs.

DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS

- Continue advancing the digital first strategy and increasing adoption of digital first customer experiences across our

products and programs.

- Lead the development and adoption of the digital product roadmap.

- Oversee the strategy and performance of digital channels including interfacing with IT and leveraging external partner

expertise.

TEAM LEADERSHIP

- Lead by example – demonstrate BC Hydro’s values and be the steward of the BC Hydro brand both internally and

externally.

- Lead and coach a strong and cohesive multidisciplinary marketing, operations, creative and communications team.

- Promote employee development at an individual and organizational level by establishing transparent expectations and providing

regular and constructive feedback.

- Mentor and lead by example to ensure your team members demonstrate the BC Hydro values and deliver superior

guidance and solutions to internal clients and external partners.

- Work with peers and the executive team to translate strategic business priorities into prioritized work plans for the team.

GOVERNANCE AND PERFORMANCE

- Oversee the management of the Marketing communications budget ensuring fiscal responsibility and optimize investment

in expenditures.

- Lead and manage contract negotiations and senior relationships with agencies and suppliers.

- Establish KPI’s and use customer insights and analytics to improve performance.

What you bring

- A university degree in a related discipline, such as Marketing, Communications,



Commerce, or a comparable field.

- A master's degree (MBA or equivalent) is preferred but not required.

- A minimum of 10 years of consistent, day-to-day marketing experience including strategic and integrated marketing

planning.

- Minimum five years of experience leading medium- to large-sized multidisciplinary marketing teams, with a proven track

record of driving engagement, developing talent, and building high-performing teams.

- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

- Experience working within a complex, regulated setting is considered an asset.

- Demonstrated success in developing and executing enterprise-wide marketing and communications strategies.

- Experience managing complex initiatives simultaneously.

- Proven experience in developing brand and go-to-market product and service strategies.

- Demonstrated experience leveraging data to inform strategy and tactical changes.

- Experience managing significant budgets, external agencies and strategic partners.

- Solid understanding and demonstrated ability in implementing digital UX and customer marketing strategies.

- Strong background in corporate research and insights.

- Experience overseeing and managing marketing and digital contractors on a day-to-day basis.

- Background in brand strategy, implementation and management.

- Demonstrated experience and ability in planning, implementing and maintaining strategic communications marketing

plans.

- Proven success leading end-to-end customer experience across multiple digital channels and touch points.

- Experience and ability in developing strategy which integrates data and insights from this group into the organization.

- Demonstrated experience and ability in evaluating emerging technologies and providing thought leadership and

recommendations to the Communications team.

What else you should know

- This is a Full time Regular (FTR) M3 opportunity on the team based at our Dunsmuir location in Vancouver.

from home and working in the office. At present, this role is expected to work in the office a minimum of three days per
