About The Gourmet Warehouse

The Gourmet Warehouse is a Vancouver specialty food and housewares destination serving home cooks and culinary professionals. Our store offers premium cookware, bakeware, kitchen tools, specialty foods, gourmet ingredients, and gifts. We are hiring a knowledgeable and service-oriented Customer Service Associate to assist customers, provide product guidance, and support sales throughout the store.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Retail Floor Managers, the Customer Service Associate gives each customer immediate and undivided attention, follows through on questions and requests, and uses product knowledge to clarify needs and recommend suitable solutions. This role also supports returns, special orders, telephone service, stock replenishment, merchandising, and cashier coverage when required.

What You Will Do

- Greet customers promptly, clarify their needs, and provide friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable assistance.
- Operate the cash register, tally purchases, collect the correct payment, make change, and complete transactions accurately
- Follow through on customer questions and requests and recommend appropriate products to support and enhance sales.
- Build knowledge of new products, product features, and product placement throughout the store.
- Package and wrap purchases carefully, including fragile and breakable merchandise.
- Handle customer returns and special orders in accordance with company procedures.
- Answer telephones courteously and use professional telephone etiquette.
- Operate the cash register and tally customer purchases when cashier support is required.
- Keep department supplies filled and maintain clean, orderly cases, shelves, and service areas.




- Replenish stock daily and advise Retail Floor Managers of stock, merchandising, and inventory-level concerns.
- Report dated, damaged, stolen, or empty product packaging to Retail Floor Managers.
- Provide customer feedback to Retail Floor Managers and communicate effectively with all team members.
- Use company tools and equipment safely and attend required department, store, and training meetings.
- Maintain a calm, professional, and respectful approach during busy or stressful situations.
- Support company goals, policies, procedures, values, and performance expectations.

What You Bring

- High school graduation.
- Previous sales and customer-service experience is an asset.
- Excellent customer-service skills and a desire to create a positive shopping experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively and positively with customers and team members.
- Basic math skills and strong attention to detail.
- Reliability, punctuality, accountability, and the ability to take initiative.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a professional demeanour.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada.

Physical & Working Requirements

- Full-time position generally scheduled for 34-40 hours per week; additional hours may be required based on store needs.




- Part-time position generally scheduled for 20-24 hours per week; additional hours may be required based on store needs
- Morning, afternoon, and evening availability is required any day of the week, including weekends and statutory holidays as scheduled.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform other activities required for the position.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds without assistance and heavier items with or without assistance.
- Ability to climb a ladder and use a stepstool safely.

- Product recommendations are helpful, accurate, and support the customer's needs.
- Stock, merchandising, pricing, and product-condition concerns are identified and reported promptly.
- You remain dependable, professional, and collaborative during busy periods.
