Facility Overview:

Lake Bonavista is a non-profit organization led by a volunteer Board of Directors. As a team, paid staff maintain and operate the members only Park/Facility that encompasses a 76 acre area serving 9400+ members.

Our 52 acre lake is adjacent to a 26 acre private park, making Lake Bonavista one of the largest facilities in Calgary.

The community resides in Treaty 7, the traditional and ancestral territory of the Blackfoot Confederacy: Kainai, Piikani, and Siksika as well as the Tsuut’ina Nation, Stoney Nakoda First Nation, and the Metis Nation (Region 3).

Lake Bonavista provides all-year round access for its residents to explore a variety of outdoor recreational activities such as swimming, fishing, court sports and boating in the summer, or skating and cross-country skiing in the winter. The facilities are also host to several signature events and gatherings for the community.

We are hiring a highly detail oriented individual for year round employment.

Position Overview:

Under the overall direction of the General Manager, the maintenance staff are responsible for the cleanliness, day to day maintenance including turf/horticultural work, building repairs and the consistent day to day duties of operating the facility.

We value quality, hard work and excellent customer service. As a Park Maintenance Associate, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our property and amenities are maintained by performing routine tasks and addressing issues that may arise.

Hours of Work:

Full time position, must be available to work any day of the week, approximately 40 hours per week. Shifts may include morning, afternoon or evening hours.

Key Responsibilities:

- To carry out those tasks and duties assigned.
- Landscaping duties - maintaining park spaces by mowing and trimming, tree bed and well maintenance, flower bed care etc.
- Ensure that the operation and maintenance procedures for the equipment used are followed.
- Event set up and take down.
- To ensure the facility is maintained to the highest standard.
- Cleaning park buildings and the facility including washrooms.
- Litter control and garbage removal.
- Raking and cleaning the beach area's, volleyball court and paddle sport courts.
- Respond promptly to maintenance or rule enforcement requests from security or management.
- Watering flowers and trees as needed.
- Opening and closing the park according to established routines and procedures.
- Complete reports as necessary (safety, incidents, etc.)

Qualifications:

- Previous experience in landscaping, maintenance or a related field is ideal but willing to train the right candidate.
- Capable of lifting 50 lbs
- Must be dependable, courteous, and safety conscious.
- A valid drivers license is considered an asset.
- Able to exceed expectations through hard work and attention to detail.
