Your Prospect:
Reporting to the Manager, and working under the guidance of the Clinical Supervisors, this position works independently and collaboratively as a Mental Health Therapist providing services to children, youth, and families. The position is responsible for providing evidence informed and best practices in assessment, treatment, addiction and mental health interventions, support and follow-up to clients. This is an advanced mental health role required to perform the restricted activity of Psychosocial Interventions to address the full range of addiction and mental health issues. The Mental Health Therapist works in an integrated and collaborative way to improve treatment and support access for addiction and mental health for children, youth, and families in the community. This position is within the Children and Youth Department and may provide services to any of the programs in the department.
Description:
As a Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Completion of one of the following programs will be considered: Bachelor of Social Work including training and experience in mental health assessment and psychotherapy and who have Psychosocial Intervention Authorization. Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing with: Related Master’s degree including training in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy or, Experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Additionally, a minimum of 3 years of relevant mental health experience working with children, youth and families.
Preferred Qualifications:
Competency in Connect Care preferred. Preference also for those with additional training or experience in working with populations under the age of 8 and their caregivers.
