Lake Dentaire is a modern, owner-run private dental clinic in Dollard-des-Ormeaux, in Montreal's West Island. You'd work directly with the owners and a small, close team that genuinely gets along — every member of our current team has been with us for more than three years. We're well regarded, we hold ourselves to a high standard, and we're hiring one dental assistant to grow with us.

The deal

A real healthcare career without going back to school. You arrive knowing nothing about dentistry, and we teach you everything, step by step, on a structured learning path. In your first months you learn the procedures, sterilization, treatment-room setup, assisting at basic appointments, and how we look after patients. As you progress, we hand you more: presenting treatment plans, walking patients through timing and payment options, obtaining consent, giving post-op instructions. That's a level of responsibility and expertise most people only reach through a formal program. Here, you build it on the job, with pay that rises as you do.

It also comes with a schedule that's hard to find: four days a week, a three-day weekend every week, and a clinic that closes for more than ten weeks a year.

What the job is really like — and why that's the point

We'd rather tell you now, because the right person will read this and want it more.

- It's hands-on and active. You're on your feet, chairside, responsible for your patient from the moment they sit down until they check out — which happens right in the treatment room. You also handle the administrative side for your patients (charts, insurance claims, payments, e-mails), but there is no permanent front desk here and this is not a desk job.
- The learning curve is steep. There's a lot to learn, and early on you will make mistakes and get corrected — often. We do that because we invest heavily in the people we hire and we want you to become excellent. The people who thrive here write it down, learn it, and don't make the same mistake twice.
- You learn by doing. After a short stretch of shadowing, we put you in real situations with guidance and support, because there's only so much anyone learns by watching. It's demanding, and it's how you get good rapid.




- Reliability is everything. We're a small team: when someone is late or absent, everyone feels it, patients included. The clinic is in Dollard-des-Ormeaux and the role requires reliable, on-time arrival every single day.
- Patients come first from day one. They should feel welcomed and at ease with you even while you're still learning the clinical side.

You'll do well here if you show up every day, pick things up reasonably quickly, take correction without taking it personally, stay steady when the day gets busy, and are comfortable talking with people — in both English and French, because we serve patients in both.

The schedule — please read this before you apply

These are our real attendance hours, not the hours on the door:

- Monday and Tuesday: arrive 8:15–8:20 am to be set up for an 8:30 start; we typically finish around 6:45–7:00 pm
- Wednesday: same start; typically done around 5:45–6:00 pm
- Thursday: same start; usually done by about 1:00 pm
- Friday, Saturday and Sunday: off, every week
- Days occasionally run later when the schedule demands it
- About 28–33 paid hours per week, with a 30-minute lunch Monday to Wednesday

Monday and Tuesday are long days. Before applying, check your realistic door-to-door commute to 4057 boul. Saint-Jean (H9G 2R4) against an 8:15 arrival and a 7:00 finish. On top of a long bus commute, that's a twelve-hour day — please be honest with yourself about whether it works week after week. There's on-site parking if you drive.

Pay and benefits

with paid vacation that grows with tenure — our whole current team receives 8 fully paid weeks.

How we hire — and how fast

Good people have options, so we don't make you wait:

- Apply here with your resume and answer the three short questions. Please write the open-ended one yourself, in your own words — it's part of how we read your application.
- If your application passes our first read, you receive a short online questionnaire the same day. It lays out the hours, the pay and the training in full detail, so you know exactly what you're saying yes to.
- A 15-minute phone call within 72 hours of your completed questionnaire, partly in English and partly in French.
- A visit to the clinic to meet the team and see the work up close.
- A short working interview at the clinic (about 2.5 hours, 8:20–11:00 am) — you'll meet the team, spend time in the treatment rooms, at sterilization and up front, and do a few work samples, so we both find out whether this is the right fit before either of us commits.
- We speak with two of your previous employers, then make an offer the same week.
