Landscape Maintenance Technician

Immediate Start

Looking for more than just a seasonal job? Find a place to GROW.

Snips Landscape is looking for a Landscape Maintenance Technician to join our team immediately.

Whether you're experienced in professional landscape maintenance or you're newer to the industry and ready to learn, we're interested in people who bring the right attitude, work ethic and desire to grow.

You don't need to know everything on Day 1. You do need to want to learn.

This is currently a seasonal position with an immediate start through approximately late November/early December, weather dependent. There are opportunities for winter snow removal work, and strong team members may have the opportunity to return next season and continue progressing within Snips.

A Place to GROW

Snips Landscape has been serving the Niagara Region since 1979. We're an established landscape company, but we're always working to improve how we train, communicate and develop our people.

We believe good employees deserve more than being handed a trimmer and told to figure it out.

Our team members have access to:

- Structured training through Greenius
- Safety training
- Coaching and team meetings
- A defined career progression pathway
- Opportunities to develop additional landscape skills
- Employee recognition and rewards
- Team events
- Company uniforms
- Opportunities for winter snow removal work

If you want to learn, take on more responsibility and develop your skills, there is room to grow here.

What You'll Be Doing

Approximately 90% of this position is skilled lawn maintenance, including:

- Operating commercial zero-turn and walk-behind mowers
- String trimming and edging
- Backpack blowing and property cleanup
- Maintaining a clean, professional finish on residential and commercial properties

Depending on the season and schedule, you'll also have opportunities to assist with:

- Garden maintenance and weeding
- Pruning
- Fall cleanups
- Planting and mulching
- Small landscape enhancements
- Property detailing
- Parking lot sweeping and seasonal property cleanup

Who We're Looking For

Experience is valuable, but attitude, reliability and willingness to learn matter just as much.

You'll fit well on our team if you:

- Show up ready to work and on time
- Work with a sense of urgency without needing someone to constantly push you
- Have a positive attitude
- Care about the quality of the finished property
- Want to learn and improve
- Take direction and communicate when something doesn't look right
- Notice problems and ask questions rather than simply ignoring them
- Work well as part of a team

Your team counts on you.

We're looking for someone who shows up ready to work, on time, and can be counted on day after day.

Experience That Will Help You Earn More

Our entry wage range is $18–$24/hour, with starting wage based on experience and demonstrated skills.

Experience with any of the following is an asset:

- Commercial zero-turn mowers
- Commercial walk-behind mowers
- String trimmers and edgers
- Backpack blowers
- Truck and trailer operation
- Commercial property maintenance
- Pruning
- Plant identification and horticultural knowledge

No formal landscape or horticultural education is required. Relevant education is an asset, but demonstrated skills, attitude and willingness to learn are more important to us.

Schedule

This is an outdoor, physically active position.

Typical schedule:

Monday–Friday
Approximately 40–50 hours per week
Typical days run approximately 7:00 a.m. to 5:00–6:00 p.m.

Landscape work is weather dependent, so occasional longer days and Saturdays may be required when weather affects the regular schedule.

Physical Requirements

Candidates must be able to:

- Work outdoors in heat, cold and rain

- Be on their feet and physically active for long days
- Regularly use trimmers, blowers and other landscape equipment
- Bend, kneel, lift and perform repetitive physical tasks
- Lift approximately 50 lbs
- Safely operate powered landscape equipment

Transportation & Driver's Licence

Reliable transportation to and from Snips Landscape is required. Public transportation is not available to our location.

A driver's licence is not required to apply for this position.

However, team members who want to advance into higher positions within the company will eventually require a valid driver's licence with a clean driving record, as driving company vehicles and trailers becomes part of increased responsibility.

Where Can This Job Lead?

We're hiring a Landscape Maintenance Technician today, but we're interested in finding people who could become much more tomorrow.

Someone who demonstrates reliability, quality workmanship, initiative, communication and a willingness to learn can continue developing their skills and moving through our career pathway.

Start here. Learn. Build your skills. Take on more responsibility. GROW.

If you're dependable, like working outdoors, take pride in seeing a property look great at the end of the day, and want an opportunity to develop within the landscape industry, we'd like to hear from you.

Apply today for an immediate start with Snips Landscape.

Pay: $18.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week

Application question(s):

- You are mowing a commercial property and notice a sprinkler head sticking up directly in your mowing path. What would you do?
- Your crew has finished one property and is getting ready to leave for the next. Your crew leader is speaking with the client and hasn't given you another task yet. What would you do while you wait?
- You're finishing a property and notice an area doesn't look as good as it should, but fixing it will put the crew a few minutes behind schedule. What would you do?
