Position: Azure Databricks DevOps Specialist
Location: Hybrid - Oshawa (3 days remote)
Structure: Contract 12 months to start
Pay: $85.00 - $100.00 p/h inc.

Deliverables
- Design, deploy, automate, and maintain scalable Microsoft Azure and Azure Databricks data platform infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code, primarily Terraform, while supporting reliable development, UAT, and production environments.
- Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps Pipelines, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins to automate deployment of Databricks notebooks, jobs/workflows, libraries, clusters, policies, workspace configurations, and other data platform components.
- Administer and secure Azure Databricks, including workspaces, clusters, jobs, workflows, repos, libraries, secret scopes, cluster policies, and Unity Catalog, implementing appropriate catalogs, schemas, external locations, storage credentials, permissions, and access controls.
- Ensure platform security, reliability, and operational performance through Entra ID/Azure AD, RBAC, managed identities, service principals, Key Vault, private endpoints, monitoring, logging, incident response, troubleshooting, cost optimization, documentation, and production support.
Experience Required
- Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer, Azure Cloud Engineer, or Data Platform Engineer, with strong hands-on expertise designing, deploying, automating,
and supporting enterprise data platforms within Microsoft Azure.
- Extensive hands-on Azure Databricks experience, including workspace administration, clusters, jobs/workflows, repos, libraries, secret scopes, cluster policies, deployment automation, and Unity Catalog administration and security.
- Strong experience building enterprise CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps Pipelines, GitHub Actions, and/or Jenkins, combined with advanced Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform and Git-based branching, pull request, code review, and release management practices.
- Strong knowledge of Azure data and platform services including ADLS Gen2, Azure Key Vault, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Azure Functions, and cloud security technologies including Entra ID, RBAC, managed identities, service principals, secrets management, private endpoints, and least-privilege access controls.
- Strong scripting and automation capabilities using Python, PowerShell, Bash, and SQL, with demonstrated experience in production support, monitoring and alerting, troubleshooting, performance optimization, workplace promotion, cost management, technical documentation, runbooks, and collaboration with Data Engineering, Architecture, Security, and application teams.
