Restaurant Supervisor – Tim Hortons
SCOPE
Under the direction and guidance of the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Restaurant Manager is expected to empower and lead your team to deliver exceptional guest experiences. You will promote a respectful team environment and manage team members with open communication and understanding. You have the knowledge, skills and long-term vision to support the SRFNDC in running a successful business. You are an expert at recruiting, training, and coaching a diverse team to achieve and maintain Tim Hortons' high standards of operation. Your high standards for operational excellence allow you to easily plan and execute methods of increasing sales and achieving targeted costs. You thrive in the fast-paced atmosphere and love coming to work every day.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial & Operational Management
- Achieve budgeted food and beverage sales, labour targets, and profitability goals.
- Monitor and control labour, food costs, and controllable expenses.
- Analyze sales reports and implement strategies to increase revenue.
- Oversee weekly payroll.
- Complete monthly inventory counts and report to Finance.
- Manage purchasing, weekly stock requirements, and purchase orders.
- Ensure accurate opening/closing inventories and cash deposits.
- Maintain all QSR control procedures.
- Develop and maintain department manuals.
- Attend weekly Tim Hortons leadership meetings and monthly SRFN staff meetings.
- Report equipment and facility deficiencies to the COO in a timely manner.
- Maintain overall operational standards in keeping with prescribed expectations.
2. Operations & Brand Standards
- Oversee day-to-day restaurant operations.
- Ensure all Tim Hortons brand, quality, and presentation standards are met.
- Maintain food quality, freshness,
display cases, coolers, and freezers.
- Ensure cleanliness, food safety, fire safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Participate in Manager-on-Duty shifts as required.
- Ensure service consistently exceeds guest expectations.
3. Guest Experience
- Deliver and promote exceptional guest service.
- Handle all food and beverage inquiries with same-business-day follow-up.
- Conduct customer follow-up calls in a timely manner.
- Resolve guest concerns quickly and professionally.
- Establish rapport with groups and guests to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.
- Minimize customer complaints.
4. Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, interview, and hire staff in collaboration with the COO.
- Ensure proper termination procedures are followed.
- Train, coach, and develop team members using approved Tim Hortons training programs.
- Ensure all staff maintain valid Food Handler certification.
- Schedule staff appropriately while controlling labour costs.
- Conduct monthly team meetings.
- Promote a respectful, professional, and team-oriented environment.
- Maintain staff appearance, uniform, and professional standards.
- Minimize WSCC claims by promoting safe workplace practices.
5. Compliance & Administration
- Ensure compliance with company policies and all health and safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate operational records and documentation.
- Maintain working knowledge of fire and safety procedures.
- Ensure food service cleanliness and maintenance standards are consistently achieved.
- Maintain professional business attire and readiness to serve clients at any time.
- Support teamwork and positive relations with co-workers and management.
Qualifications
- Secondary school diploma required.
- Post-secondary education in Hospitality Management or Business preferred.
- 3–5 years of Quick Service Restaurant experience.
- Minimum 1 year in a supervisory or management role.
- Tim Hortons experience considered an asset.
- Food Safety Certification required (or willingness to obtain).
- Knowledge of financial reporting and cost controls.

Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.
Other Requirements
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License required.
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Person Clearance required upon hire.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 30–50 lbs.
- This is a position of trust.
- Priority hiring for SRFN members will be enforced.
