Global Gourmet Foods is a division of Premium Brands Holdings Corporation (TSX: PBH) which is a high-growth specialty soup manufacturer with industry-leading kettle process and innovative product offerings. Global Gourmet Foods has two CFIA inspected manufacturing facilities in Richmond and Surrey, with a new warehouse in Delta.
We are seeking a Senior HR Generalist to join our team. The successful candidate will be reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources, he/she plays a critical operational role in managing full-spectrum HR services across two locations. This position manages day-to-day HR functions, drives core HR processes, ensures compliance, and acts as the primary HR operational lead for secondary site coverage. The Senior HR Generalist also provides guidance and functional oversight to junior HR staff if necessary.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Employee Relations & Site Operations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for managers and employees regarding workplace policies, conflict resolution, performance management, and day-to-day HR inquiries across both locations.
- Manage complex employee relations matters, conduct internal investigations, and provide guidance to management on disciplinary actions and terminations.
- Act as the lead HR operational partner for the secondary facility, managing site coverage remotely with periodic travel as required.
HR Administration & Compliance
- Oversee and ensure full compliance with provincial employment standards, health and safety regulations, and company policies.
- Review, update, and implement HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks in collaboration with the HR Director.
- Oversee the administration of group perks programs, retirement plans,
disability management, and leave of absence requests.
- Lead occupational health and safety (OHS) initiatives, incident tracking, and WorkSafeBC claims management.
Talent Management & Employee Lifecycle
- Partner with department managers to manage full-cycle recruitment for specialized or key roles, while delegating logistics to the HR Coordinator.
- Design and refine structured onboarding and offboarding programs to enhance employee engagement and retention.
- Coordinate and drive the annual performance management cycle, assisting supervisors with employee development plans and performance improvement plans.
HR Analytics & Continuous Improvement
- Prepare, analyze, and present HR metrics and workforce reports (turnover, absenteeism, compensation benchmarks) to support strategic decision-making.
- Identify operational gaps within HR processes and implement efficient workflow improvements or system enhancements.
- Provide functional guidance, task delegation, and mentorship to the junior HR staff.
- Execute special HR projects and perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience:
Minimum 5–7 years of progressive HR Generalist experience in a fast-paced environment. Experience supporting multi-site manufacturing or plant environments is preferred.
- Designation: CPHR designation or active candidacy is a strong asset.
- Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of provincial employment legislation (Employment Standards Act, WorkSafeBC), solid understanding of payroll processes, and proficiency in HRIS software and MS Office Suite.
- Competencies:
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with - exceptional discretion and integrity.
- Strong conflict resolution, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and priority-management skills with minimal supervision required.
- Cultural awareness and robust interpersonal communication skills.
- Languages: Fluency in English (written and verbal); fluency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin is a strong asset.
- Travel: Ability and willingness to travel periodically among the sites in Richmond, Delta and Surrey.
