POSITION SUMMARY:

The Site Supervisor manages daily construction field operations, supervising all contractors and field staff on the worksite and ensuring all work complies with safety codes, blueprints, and quality standards. The role requires coordinating sub-trades, ensuring strict infrastructure compliance, and respecting the cultural and environmental protocols of the Tsuut’ina Nation. The primary goal is to deliver projects safely, on schedule, on budget, and to the required quality standard.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Site and Operations Management; coordinate daily schedules and oversee all construction activities and schedules through to close-out. Assist the Project Manager in developing the construction schedule and in engaging contractors, suppliers, and employees for the project. Define project scope, required resources, resource allocation, establish protocols and standards, and adjust deadline estimates. Resolve immediate field conflicts, design discrepancies, and unexpected delays. Ensure smooth day-to-day operation of all work activities. Remain accountable for the job until completion. Continuously seek opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, quality, and safety through improved construction practices and site procedures.
- Health, Safety and Environment; maintain a zero-injury site by enforcing all site safety procedures, policies and regulations. Conduct daily safety tool-box talks with the site crew.
- Quality Control and Inspections; inspect work in progress, and each phase to confirm it adheres to architectural plans, blueprints, and applicable building codes. Coordinate walk-throughs, and inspections. Conduct pre-occupancy inspections, final walkthroughs, and deficiency reviews to ensure homes are ready for occupancy and meet all quality standards. Coordinate post-construction deficiencies, warranty work, and contractor callbacks during the warranty period.



Support permitting, inspections, and compliance requirements with the Tsuut’ina Development Authority (TDA) and other regulatory agencies.
- Reporting and Documentation; maintain accurate daily site logs, and track material deliveries. Report project progress, deadlines, and costs to the Project Manager. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports and scopes of work, and provide detailed updates to the Project Manager and Senior Management. Ensure site records and progress reports comply with Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) funding frameworks and capital asset management guidelines.
- Team Supervision; supervise, monitor, and evaluate all employees and subcontractors involved with the project. Meet daily with the project crew. Foster positive communication and respect among all employees and contractors on site.
- Community and Stakeholder Relations; maintain professional relationships with Nation Members, occupants, consultants, contractors, and community stakeholders while minimizing disruptions and addressing site concerns respectfully.
- Capacity Building; coach and train community members to build long-term local trade capacity.
- Perform other appropriate duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Desired Education, Knowledge, and Experience:

- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering or a related field, or Journeyman trade ticket is preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on construction field experience, including (3) years in a supervisory or foreman role.
- Experience coordinating trades, contractors, and schedules on remote or community-based capital infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft 365 applications.
- Knowledge of the Alberta Building Code and Fire Code, local permitting requirements, federal procurement systems,



and First Nations National Building Officers Association compliance standards.
- Knowledge of Tsuut’ina Nation History, Culture and Language.
- Valid First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, and CSTS 2020 certifications; fall protection and safety leadership training (e.g., CSTS/SCOT).

- Excellent organization and planning skills to prioritize and balance competing work.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, contracts, specifications, scopes of work, and change orders, with robust troubleshooting and constructability review skills.
- Ability to lead others in meeting schedule and budget requirements.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Diplomacy and sound judgment in resolving field conflicts.

General Employment Requirements:

- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
- Physically able to navigate a construction site in all phases of construction.
