Position Summary
The Regional Base Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Ground, Ground Operations facilities, and Shipper/Receiver teams. The Regional Base Manager is to proactively identify and mitigates hazards to ensure a secure workplace for staff and cargo. Build consensus and works effectively across departments to achieve organizational goals. Delivers high-quality support to both internal teams and external customers/partners. Promotes open, honest, and respectful dialogue across diverse audiences, to solve complex operational issues with a focus on long-term sustainability rather than just short-term fixes. Ensure that there is an excellent level of Team Cooperation between everyone on site and ensure that all parties have a safe and cooperative experience with NorthStar Air.
Key Responsibilities
· Oversee operational plans and forecasts, ensuring all cargo movements are orderly, timely, and adjusted to meet demand.
· Provide superior customer service levels.
· Lead the base to meet On-Time-Performance (OTP) and Service level Agreements (SLA) targets without compromising safety or regulatory standards.
· Serve as the primary liaison between Ground Crew, Flight Crew, Maintenance, and Contractors to ensure seamless execution of the operational plan.
· Proactively develop and implement new methods to streamline base operations and improve efficiency.
· Oversee the full recruitment process, including hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and progressive discipline or terminations.
· Manage staff scheduling, payroll approval,
and time-off requests (vacation/banked time), ensuring full shift coverage via established call-in processes.
· Ensure all staff are properly trained, equipped with required PPE, and compliant with uniform standards.
· Promote a "Safety First" culture by managing SMS reporting, investigating incidents, and ensuring all staff are proficient in using the company SMS site.
· Maintain expert knowledge of the Ground Operations Manual (GOM) and ensure all load control and functional tasks meet company and industry standards.
· Step into Cargo Coordinator, Administrator, or Team Lead roles as required to maintain operational continuity.
· Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of all company equipment, property, hangars, and housing, utilizing internal staff or third-party contractors.
· Maintain a professional working relationship with the local Airport Authority and external partners.
· Any other related duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For (Qualifications)
· High school diploma or equivalent is an asset
· Ability to work well under pressure
· Strong communicator, both verbally and in writing
· Basic mathematical skills
· Strong critical thinking skills
· Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
· Computer literacy, including working skills of Excel and e-mail
· Ability to communicate in Oji-Cree or Ojibway is an asset
- Must successfully complete a Criminal Records Check.
Working Conditions
· 2 weeks on/2 weeks off schedule; overtime as required.
· Indoor and outdoor work is required

Pay: $66,874.89-$94,739.43 per year
