Within Ontario, our head office is in Mississauga. Collectively, our energetic organization provides various support services to children, youth and families with complex needs. This includes foster family placements, family-based care, alternate care, therapeutic support, clinical services, and community training. Key Assets Ontario is currently recruiting in Mississauga, ON for the position of:

Foster Support Worker

Part Time (20 hours/week) Temporary 12 Month Contract

As a Foster Support Worker, you will provide comprehensive support and review services to Foster Carers and the children and youth in their care. The role is responsible for supporting Foster Carers, reviewing their performance and development, and ensuring practice aligns with Key Assets' policies, procedures, best practice standards, and Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services requirements.

Core Tasks will Include (but are not limited to):

- Assess, and monitor the continued suitability and competence of foster carers ensuring they provide a safe, healthy, nurturing and learning environment for children and youth.
- Ensure that foster carers fully understand the fostering task, competencies to be achieved, and the standards expected
- Providing an effective system for the review of Key Assets (KA) foster carers. This incorporates both the assessed performance of the carers and the carers' assessment of the quality of service and support provided by KA.
- To include in the consultation process local CAS social workers who have had placements with carers during the review period, social workers from KA, carers, children in placement, carers' children and other members of the carers' household.




- To chair carer review meetings (annual and as may arise for other exceptional reasons, which may involve carers, social workers and other KA staff.
- To arrange for distribution of review reports following agency decisions, to the relevant carers, KA Managers, Social Workers and Placement.
- To provide recommendations regarding training and support needs for the carer for the next 12 months, along with recommendations regarding continued approval of the carer(s) and any related conditions (e.g. number of placements, age, gender, any specific task range)
- Attend meetings to support foster carers, children and youth.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, the candidate is required to have:

- A degree/diploma in Bachelor of Social Work, Child and Youth Work
- A minimum of 2 years working experience within the fostering industry
- Substantial experience in family placement and child protection fieldwork
- Sound knowledge of Child Protection procedures and clinical practices
- A good understanding and working knowledge of relevant legislation, Child and Family Services Act (CYFSA), Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services Licensing Regulation, Duty to Report Legislation
- Comprehensive understanding of the foster carer review process and related "industry best practice"
- Ability to communicate at all levels, negotiate, mediate, and build effective relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders
- A current Broad Range Check (Police Screening) and Child Welfare Screening
- Must have valid First Aid,



CPR and current certification in an approved Crisis Prevention and Intervention Program
- A valid G Class license with a clean driving record and daily access to a safe/reliable vehicle with a minimum of $2-Million liability insurance
- Valid proof of Canadian residency

Key Assets Offers:

- Starting hourly rate of $17.60/hour
