Summit Valve and Controls Company Overview
Summit Valve and Controls is a family-owned company operating in the valve, automation, and instrumentation industry since 1992. We are committed to delighting our customers while supporting various sectors including Oil Sands, Oil & Gas, Water & Wastewater, Mining, Industrial, and Marine.
The Inside Sales Representative is one of the primary contacts for existing and potential Customers to request represented product. An Inside Sales Representative is responsible for ensuring proper, appropriate, and timely execution of customer quotes. As a member of the Inside Sales Team, this role may be required to execute or support any tasks related to inside sales from quote to delivery; through appropriate planning, project management, and expediting either personally or by supporting colleagues. This role will also provide technical and automation support to the warehouse. It is imperative that the person in this role is professional, polite, helpful, and courteous to all Guests, Customers, Colleagues, and Stakeholders.
Highly effective organizational skills and reliability are the key to success in this position and growth within the Company.
Inside Sales must ensure that customer requirements are met by facilitating the sales process (in compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS)). This role is responsible for sales in Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan as required.
The job description and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Communication
- Provide customers with accurate, knowledgeable information concerning represented products and their suitability for customers’ applications.
- Responsible for accurately conveying customer requirements to all personnel involved with the sales order process including other Summit Valve and Controls Inc.’s staff and subcontractors.
- Collaborate with team members as required to ensure appropriate expectations, deliverables, and communications.
Execution
- Primary point of contact for customer inquiries; day-to-day (all product lines), application-specific and custom solutions.
- Begin to expand responsibility by participating in the execution of complex orders and/or small projects.
- Work with various vendors to develop complete solution to customers’ needs. Includes assurance of suitability, price, and lead times.
- Follow Workflows and Work Instructions to ensure accuracy, compliance with QMS, and exceptional customer service.
- Prepare technical proposals in response to customers' requirements; including sizing, calibration, design, etc.
- Ensure that customers' quality requirements are met, this includes ensuring the correct supporting documentation is provided.
- Assist with shipping and receiving as required.
- Ensure purchase of product related materials from suitably approved vendors.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Instrumentation Engineering Technology, or relevant experience.
- Minimum 1-3 years experience in insides sales.
- Inside sales or customer service experience in industrial products; experience with quoting and technical proposals.
- Previous technical work experience.
- Previous experience selling some sort of industrial/municipal/commercial products.

- Strong communication skills; verbal communication, legible penmanship, and coherent writing and notes (in software).

Working Conditions
- Physical Requirements – Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, talking on the phone, and working on a computer.

Actual compensation will be based on the candidate’s experience, skill set, and internal equity considerations.
