We are seeking an experienced accountant to join a public accounting practice on a full-time, permanent basis. This position is well suited to someone with solid Canadian public practice experience who is comfortable managing files independently and working directly with clients.

The successful candidate will have practical experience with personal and corporate tax compliance, compilation engagements, and general accounting matters. The position offers a varied workload and the opportunity to work with a diverse group of owner-managed businesses and individual clients.

Primary Duties

- Preparation of personal and corporate income tax returns
- Preparation of GST/HST returns, T4 and T5 information returns, and other compliance filings
- Preparation of year-end working paper files and compilation engagement financial statements
- Review and analysis of client accounting records
- Correspondence and communication with the Canada Revenue Agency regarding client matters
- Assistance with tax research, year-end tax planning and other client matters as required
- Direct communication with clients to obtain information and address accounting and tax questions
- Management of assigned files and deadlines throughout the year

Experience and Qualifications

Applicants should have:





- A minimum of 3 years of recent public practice accounting experience
- Strong experience preparing Canadian T1 and T2 income tax returns
- Experience preparing year-end working papers and compilation engagement files
- Good knowledge of Canadian personal and corporate income tax
- Experience using professional tax preparation software
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- The ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines
- The ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a small team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

A CPA designation, or progress toward a CPA designation, would be an asset but is not a requirement.

Pay: $72,000.00-$84,000.00 per year
