We are currently seeking the following vacant role.
Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Associate
Position: Full-time Permanent
Location: Mississauga, Ontario (In person)
What are we looking for?
The successful candidate will be a dependable and proactive team member who takes pride in maintaining accurate records, meeting deadlines and ensuring products and materials are handled with care. The ability to communicate effectively, stay organized, and respond quickly to changing priorities will be essential to the success in this role.
What are the Job Responsibilities?
- Prepare accurate packing slips, ensuring all product information and quantities are properly documented.
- Load and unload materials in accordance with established shipping and receiving procedures, safety standards, and company policies.
- Verify the accuracy of ordered supplies and received materials against purchase orders and supporting documentation.
- Review bills of lading, packing lists, and other shipping documentation to verify shipment details and identify, document, and report discrepancies.
- Prepare, organize, and prioritize shipments, including commercial carrier, daily, job-site while staging materials for efficient loading and verification.
- Reconcile manufacturer packing lists with received materials and bills of lading, ensuring all required documentation is accurately completed, signed, and maintained.
- Inspect shipments for freight damage and accurately document and report any discrepancies or damages.
- Maintain positive and professional communication with internal departments, customers, carriers, and other stakeholders to coordinate deliveries and pickups.
- Prepare shipments for delivery by inspecting materials against work orders, following established packaging procedures, and ensuring all goods are properly secured, protected, and accounted for prior to loading.
- Provide internal stakeholders with advance notification of materials scheduled for customer delivery.
- Ensure all required procedures and documentation are completed for material deliveries, including verifying documents accompanying customer orders.
- Respond to customs-related inquiries regarding products received from international suppliers and provide required documentation as requested.
- Create and process purchase orders for inbound and outbound shipments, as well as in-house and on-site crane arrangements, ensuring accurate billing and shipment information.
- Prepare and distribute shipping documentation to appropriate internal stakeholders.
- Prepare and maintain an annual inventory list to assist internal stakeholders in confirming shipping and delivery requirements.
- Provide site contacts with shipment details, including material weights, dimensions, and required offloading procedures.
- Receive and properly store materials in designated locations upon delivery, ensuring materials are organized and readily accessible.
- Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and efficient shipping and receiving area in accordance with company standards
- Other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will also obtain the following qualifications & skills for the position:
- High School Diploma required; post-secondary education in related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of shipping and receiving experience in a similar role.
- Valid Forklift Certification is required.
- Valid G Class Driver’s license and clean abstract.
- Solid written and verbal communications skills.
- Strong organizational, planning, scheduling and time-management abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- SAP experience is an asset.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a sense of urgency.
- Ability to follow and carry out instructions with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of purchasing principles or practices.
- Ability to use computerized system to maintain inventory control.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Willingness to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
- Ability to safely lift and move materials weighing up to 60 lbs. regularly throughout a shift.
- A strong commitment to workplace safety, accuracy and professionalism.
