The Role

We are looking for someone to work with us to support our winter events. We anticipate the contract to start from September or October until the end of February. We are ideally looking for someone in Squamish (as this is where our Director works from), or the Sea to Sky who has their own vehicle and is willing to commute to Squamish at least one day a week and whenever there is logistical work required in Squamish (there is no mileage reimbursement for travel to Squamish as it is the normal place of work for this company).

We are looking for someone who has event, technical, production or operations coordination experience to work both behind the scenes on event administration and also on-the-ground helping to plan the logistics of our events, packing vans, prepping and installing art installations, and be on site with our events.

The hours are adaptable and a mix of remote and on-site event work. They range from few hours if we have nothing happening in a week to 20 or 30 hours a week around our key events busy times in November and February.

The Event Production Assistant will be a core member of our team working with our director on several creative events. They will be hands-on with every element of the event, planning each site, coordinating installations with artists, helping other production team members and volunteers, installing lighting, setting up activations etc, as well as administrative work from home in the leadup to events.

We expect the candidate to work on some or all of the following tasks:

· Pre-event work from planning equipment lists, load in schedules, booking rental equipment, artist contracts,

prep and planning etc

· Event production - setting up activations, event zones, liaising with artists and supporting their needs

· Event coordination, logistics, volunteer and staff coordination

· Site setup safety management, technical support, troubleshooting, being everywhere at once

We are looking for someone to join our team who possesses some of the following skills and interests:

· Must have event or stage/set production experience

· Ideally comfortable working hands on (packing vans, storing equipment, planning inventory, setting up art installations, carrying sandbags, painting etc), as they are working behind the scenes on a computer (sending out artist contracts, booking vendors, managing storage inventory, planning event logistics)

· Has a positive and can-do attitude, happy to help however and get stuck in as needed, no egos allowed, must be willing to be very hands on

· Must have a flexible work schedule as we will be busier closer to the event, and can align working time with our Director’s work days and work virtually with the team one day a week and more closer to the event

· Operate independently with motivation and drive, reporting to our Director but taking on projects and tasks independently and sticking to deadlines and managing your own workload

· Can manage multiple tasks, making sure the event runs seamlessly, can solve problems and adapt on the fly

· Ideally based in Squamish or able to commute to Squamish one or more days a week (no mileage reimbursement), and able to join us in our events in Whistler, Vancouver, and Victoria.

· Must be able to work from home and have your own phone and computer, access to internet

· University degree in management, arts, business, or other

- Must have vehicle!

- We do have wage funding for Canadian citizens/permanent residents/refugees aged 30 and under. Please note in your application if you fulfill those requirements (not mandatory)

We expect that the candidate will earn $25 per hour depending on their experience, and a fluctuating schedule from 10 - 30 hours per week depending on the time, and be on site for each night of our winter event. They will work remotely. We aim to create a positive, open learning environment where our team can shine and grow through our initiatives and we are flexible about who we take on as we love diverse skills and interests so we welcome applications from candidates who may fit some of the above but not everything.

We do have youth roles available with the PLT Canada program for candidates aged 30 and under who are Canadian Citizens/permanent residents/refugees.
