Experienced Overhead Door Service Technician's and Installers – Commercial & Residential

Al Parsons Electronics Ltd. is an established Ottawa-area company specializing in overhead doors, security gates, automatic doors, and related equipment. We are looking for an experienced Overhead Door Service Technician's and Installers to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is a service / repair and installation position for an experienced technician. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of hands-on overhead door technician experience.

What You'll Do

- Diagnose, troubleshoot, service, and repair commercial and residential overhead doors and operators
- Perform scheduled maintenance and emergency service calls
- Service and maintain dock levelers and related dock equipment
- Troubleshoot and service automatic gates, entrance doors, and automatic door operators
- Identify the cause of equipment failures and determine appropriate repairs
- Work efficiently with dispatch to maximize productivity and maintain an organized daily schedule
- Accurately account for all work time and complete required service documentation
- Communicate professionally with customers and provide excellent customer service
- Work with the parts and sales departments to ensure customer needs are addressed
- Identify and immediately report customer concerns or additional repair opportunities
- Travel throughout the Ottawa service area during the workday
- Operate company vehicles safely and responsibly
- Perform work in customer locations and in varying weather conditions

What We're Looking For

Required:

- Minimum 5 years of overhead door technician/service experience
- Solid hands-on mechanical ability
- Electrical troubleshooting skills
- Valid driver's licence
- Acceptable driving record for company insurance
- Ability to diagnose problems and work independently




- Comfortable working at heights and from ladders
- Ability to safely lift and move up to 100 lbs frequently and up to 150 lbs occasionally
- Ability to read safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance manuals, and service documentation
- Professional and courteous communication with customers and coworkers

Assets:

- Commercial overhead door service experience
- Experience with dock levelers
- Automatic gates and entrance doors
- Door operators and control systems
- Welding experience
- Strong electrical experience
- Experience with preventative maintenance programs
