Part-Time Cleaner & Assistant Cook / Catering Support

We are looking for a reliable, hardworking, and flexible Part-Time Janitorial Cleaner & Assistant Cook / Catering Support Team Member.

Important: This is a combined position.

The main responsibility is part-time janitorial cleaning, with regular cleaning shifts each week at different sites. A car is required

However, the successful candidate must also be willing and able to work as an Assistant Cook for approximately 2–3 hours every week, in addition to helping with catering, deliveries, events, or staff replacement when needed. There will be additional hours and possibility to become full time if it is the right fit.

Applicants must be comfortable performing both cleaning and food-service duties.

This is not a cleaning-only position and not a kitchen-only position.

Main Responsibility: Janitorial Cleaning

The majority of regular scheduled hours will involve janitorial and commercial cleaning duties.

Responsibilities may include:

- Sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping floors
- Cleaning and disinfecting washrooms
- Cleaning sinks, toilets, mirrors, counters, and fixtures
- Emptying garbage and recycling
- Replacing garbage bags and cleaning waste areas
- Wiping and disinfecting high-touch surfaces
- Cleaning tables, counters, doors, and common areas
- Dusting furniture, ledges, and surfaces
- Cleaning staff areas, kitchens, offices, and other spaces
- Spot-cleaning walls, doors, and windows when required
- Restocking paper towels, toilet paper, soap, and other supplies
- Maintaining cleaning equipment and supplies
- Reporting maintenance, damage, or supply issues
- Following cleaning schedules and checklists
- Completing cleaning duties independently and efficiently

Previous commercial or janitorial cleaning experience is considered an asset.

Mandatory Weekly Assistant Cook Shift

In addition to janitorial cleaning duties, the employee will be required to work approximately 2–3 hours per week assisting in the kitchen.

This is a mandatory part of the position.

Kitchen responsibilities may include:

- Assisting with food preparation
- Cutting, portioning, assembling, and preparing ingredients
- Helping prepare café and catering menu items
- Following recipes and portioning standards
- Packaging and labeling food
- Organizing catering orders
- Washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
- Cleaning and sanitizing food-preparation areas




- Helping with kitchen organization
- Assisting the Cook/Chef with production
- Following food safety and sanitation procedures

The successful candidate does not need to be a professional chef but must be comfortable working with food and learning basic kitchen tasks.

On-Call Catering & Event Support

Additional hours may occasionally become available depending on catering orders, events, staff absences, and business needs.

You may be contacted to:

- Assist with catering food preparation
- Package catering orders
- Help during busy production days
- Cover for an absent employee
- Load and unload catering orders
- Deliver food, beverages, supplies, or equipment
- Complete catering drop-offs
- Assist with event setup
- Help with food presentation and service
- Assist during private or corporate events
- Help with cleanup and breakdown after events
- Pick up supplies or equipment when required

Some additional shifts may be offered on short notice.

Driving & Delivery

When catering or delivery assistance is required, responsibilities may include:

- Verifying catering orders before departure
- Safely transporting food and catering equipment
- Delivering orders accurately and on time
- Loading and unloading orders
- Communicating professionally with customers
- Representing Queensview Café professionally at client locations

A valid driver's licence is required.

Access to a reliable vehicle is required for the shifts

Schedule & Hours

This position combines regular part-time hours with occasional on-call opportunities.

Regular responsibilities include:

- Part-time janitorial cleaning each week
- Approximately 2–3 mandatory hours of Assistant Cook/kitchen work each week

Additional on-call hours may include:

- Catering production
- Catering deliveries
- Staff replacement
- Special events
- Busy café periods
- Evening or weekend events

Availability may occasionally be required during:

- Weekdays
- Daytime hours
- Evenings
- Weekends
- Special events

- Ability to safely lift and carry cleaning supplies, food trays, catering boxes, and equipment
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment when required
- Valid driver's licence required
- English required; French is an asset

Experience preferred:

- Janitorial / commercial cleaning: 1 year preferred
- Kitchen / restaurant / catering / food service: experience preferred

Candidates with strong cleaning experience who are willing to learn kitchen duties are encouraged to apply.

Food Handler Certification is preferred.
