North & Company LLP is seeking motivated 1L and 2L law students to join our Lethbridge office for the Summer 2027 term.

With a long-standing presence in Southern Alberta, North & Company LLP is a full-service law firm providing legal services to individuals, families, businesses, and organizations throughout the region. Our summer student program is designed to provide meaningful, hands-on experience while giving students the opportunity to learn from lawyers across a variety of practice areas.

The Opportunity

As a Summer Law Student, you will work alongside our lawyers and legal professionals and gain practical exposure to the day-to-day practice of law.

Depending on current files and the needs of our lawyers, your experience may include:

- Conducting legal research and preparing research memoranda;
- Assisting with drafting correspondence, pleadings, agreements, and other legal documents;
- Reviewing and summarizing documents, case law, and file materials;
- Assisting with preparation for court appearances, questionings, mediations, negotiations, and client meetings;
- Observing court proceedings and other aspects of legal practice;
- Participating in client matters under the supervision of our lawyers;
- Supporting lawyers across a variety of practice areas; and
- Participating in Firm initiatives, professional development opportunities, and events.

Our goal is to provide students with exposure to real legal work and the practical skills required to build a successful legal career.

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for students who are curious, professional, dependable, and eager to learn.

The successful candidate will

- Be currently enrolled in a Canadian Juris Doctor (J.D.) or equivalent law degree program and entering their 1L or 2L summer;
- Demonstrate strong academic, research, writing,



and analytical skills;
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Demonstrate sound judgment, professionalism, and attention to detail;
- Be comfortable asking questions, receiving feedback, and learning from others;
- Be able to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines;
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team; and
- Demonstrate a genuine interest in developing practical legal skills and contributing to the Firm.
