Position Summary The accountant is responsible for supporting the Finance department by performing a variety of accounting and administrative duties. This role assists with month-end activities, maintains financial records, supports accounts payable functions, and provides cross-functional support to ensure the effective operation of the Finance department. The successful candidate is detail-oriented, organized,
and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting
- Maintain fixed assets and prepaid expense accounts.
- Prepare journal entries and month-end reconciliations.
- Support year-end audits and provide required documentation.
Accounts Payable
- Process freight and vendor invoices.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
Expense Reports
- Review and process expense reports and reclassifications.
- Verify coding, approvals, and supporting documentation.
- Assist employees with expense report questions.
Administrative Support
- Provide accounting support and vacation coverage as needed.
- Provide front desk coverage on an as needed basis.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
- Experience with accounts payable, general ledger reconciliations, and month-end activities.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with ERP/accounting software is considered an asset.
- Bilingual (English/French) is considered an asset.
