Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Supervisor – Finance, the Accounting Clerk is a clerical accounting staff member that performs essential accounting tasks including data entry, reconciliation, and administrative duties that contribute to the accuracy of financial reporting.

Major Responsibilities

- Prepares and maintains documents related to accounts such as manual billings, account statements and other financial documents.
- Enters and reconciles transactions such as accounts payables and receivables, purchase orders, payments, invoices, cheque requisitions and bank statements.
- Reconciles fixed asset and accumulated depreciation records, general ledger and other related systems as may be required.
- Maintains the integrity of database accounting systems by regularly updating files, reports and

spreadsheets.
- Prepares and processes documents and the required controls related to billing. Reviews variances, provides explanations, and troubleshoots issues.
- Performs daily verification and posting of data to journals, ledgers, and other records.
- Performs collection duties, which include but are not limited to contacting customers through a range of techniques,



reviewing and resolving customer billing issues/disputes, and negotiating payment plans.
- Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of and complies with all legislation and Tbaytel policies relevant to the position and the duties performed.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

- University degree or college diploma in Business, Accounting, or Finance; or a completed post secondary education with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in an accounting or finance environment performing clerical financial tasks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify discrepancies and suggest solutions.
- Exceptional attention to detail and well organized.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally and courteously with colleagues and vendors.
- Basic computer literacy and demonstrates ability to quickly learn new software.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel (including basic formulas, data entry, formatting).

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with SAP and/or computerized accounting software.
- Experience working in a telecom environment; familiarity with common services, basic terminology, and billing processes.




- Basic understanding and experience with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Demonstrated experience with high-volume transaction processing in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
