The Opportunity
TIPI Insurance Partners is looking for an Accounting Lead to oversee the day-to-day accounting operations and oversee the timely, accurate, and complete execution of the monthly financial close process. As the primary owner of the month-end close, the Accounting Lead will coordinate accounting activities across the Finance function, maintain the integrity of financial records, and ensure transactions, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reports are completed in accordance with company policies, internal controls, and applicable accounting standards. Working independently with minimal supervision, this role provides functional leadership by coordinating month-end activities, monitoring deliverables, collaborating with internal stakeholders, and supporting continuous improvements to accounting processes and financial controls.
Job Duties and Tasks
- Oversee day-to-day accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger activities.
- Own and coordinate the monthly and year-end financial close, ensuring accurate and timely completion of reconciliations, accruals, adjustments, and financial reporting.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules, including variance analysis and cash flow reporting.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning by providing accurate financial information and analysis to leadership.
- Prepare, coordinate, and manage the submission of regulatory, statutory, and other compliance filings, as required, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable requirements and deadlines.
- Maintain strong internal controls, accounting procedures, financial records, and compliance with applicable accounting standards and legislation.
- Provide functional coordination and cross-functional support to Finance, Payroll, HR, and operational teams to ensure timely and accurate financial information.
- Identify and implement process improvements, system enhancements,
and efficiencies to strengthen financial controls and improve accounting operations.
- Stay current with accounting standards, taxation requirements, and financial reporting practices and perform other finance-related duties as required.
Your Ideal Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or post-secondary diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation or enrollment in the CPA PEP is an asset.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including month-end close and full-cycle accounting.
- Strong knowledge of general accounting standards, financial reporting, reconciliations, and accounting best practices. With experience in ASPE guidelines is an asset.
- Experience with financial statements, audits, GST/HST remittances, and statutory reporting.
- Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with sound judgment, accountability, professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
Pay: $60,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
