Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) – M1 / M2 (Cessna 208 & Beech 1900C)
Location: Fort McMurray International Airport (YMM) – Fort McMurray, AB
Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent (Rotational FIFO or Local Resident Options Available)
Compensation: $45.00 – $60.00 per hour (commensurate with experience and signing privileges)
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled, adaptable, and safety-driven Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) to join our flight line maintenance team in Fort McMurray. This position is unique: you will maintain a rugged, high-utility fleet consisting of the Cessna 208 Caravan (M1) and the Beechcraft 1900C (M1/M2). Powered by reliable Pratt & Whitney PT6A turbine engines, our fleet keeps the Wood Buffalo region connected through critical charter, cargo, and corporate operations.
Whether you hold an M1 license with heavy turbine exposure, or a dual-scope rating, we provide a dynamic environment with top-tier hangar facilities and competitive northern compensation.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspections & Maintenance: Perform regular line maintenance, phase/progressive inspections, and major structural or system repairs on Cessna 208 and Beechcraft 1900C airframes.
- Powerplant Care: Trouble-shoot, rig, and maintain P&WC; PT6A series engines, ensuring maximum fleet reliability.
- Defect Rectification: Diagnose complex electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and avionics faults efficiently to minimize aircraft downtime.
- Regulatory Certification: Complete and release maintenance logs, work orders,
and tracking documentation in strict compliance with Transport Canada regulations and company SMS policies.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain a clean, organized hangar environment, adhering to all occupational health and safety standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Licensure: Valid Transport Canada AME License in Category M1 and/or M1/M2.
- Type Experience: Proven, hands-on maintenance experience on Cessna 208/208B and/or Beechcraft 1900 series aircraft is highly preferred.
- Engine Familiarity: Deep knowledge of PT6A turbine engines (hot section inspections, rigging, troubleshooting).
- Regulatory Knowledge: Clear understanding of Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) and Safety Management Systems (SMS).
- Attributes: Strong problem-solving abilities, a proactive attitude toward safety, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Logistics: Ability to pass a background check to secure an airport Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) and a valid driver's license.
