Role Description The Apprentice Goldsmith role is a full-time, in office position based in Cardston, AB. The apprentice will support experienced goldsmiths in tasks such as basic metalworking, soldering, polishing, and finishing jewelry pieces under supervision. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with jewelry repairs, resizing rings, setting stones, and maintaining tools and workstations to ensure a safe and organized environment.
The role also involves collaborating with the design team on simple jewelry concepts, learning engraving techniques, and occasionally interacting with customers to understand design preferences or repair needs. As skills progress,
the apprentice will take on more complex tasks and contribute to the production of custom pieces while adhering to quality standards and deadlines.
Qualifications
- Foundational skills or strong interest in Goldsmithing and Jewelry Design, with a willingness to learn and follow detailed instructions.
- Interest or experience in Engraving and fine-detail work, including comfort with precision tools and delicate materials.
- Customer Service and Sales abilities, with the capacity to communicate clearly, listen to client needs, and support a welcoming showroom experience.
- Strong manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and attention to detail, especially when working with small components and valuable materials.
- Ability to work on-site full time in Cardston, AB, demonstrating reliability, time management, and a commitment to safety in a workshop environment.
- Basic understanding of jewelry materials (metals, gemstones) is an asset; prior experience in a jewelry or craft environment is beneficial but not required.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training, accept constructive feedback, and grow into more advanced goldsmithing responsibilities.
