Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Asphalt Screed Operator to join our construction team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for operating asphalt paving equipment, specifically the screed, to ensure smooth, level, and durable pavement surfaces. Your expertise will contribute directly to the quality and efficiency of our paving projects, helping us deliver outstanding results on time and within scope.

Responsibilities

- Operate asphalt screed machines to lay asphalt with precision, ensuring proper thickness and smoothness of the pavement surface
- Adjust screed settings based on project specifications and site conditions for optimal results
- Collaborate with the paving crew to coordinate equipment operation and material placement efficiently
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment to identify maintenance needs and ensure safe operation
- Assist with other construction tasks such as loading materials, preparing surfaces, or supporting concrete forming when necessary




- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a secure work environment for yourself and team members
- Maintain detailed records of daily operations, including production rates and equipment performance

Skills

- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance on heavy machinery
- Construction experience, particularly in paving or roadwork projects
- Proficiency in heavy equipment operation, including asphalt pavers, loaders, excavators, and concrete finishing tools
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred for transporting equipment or materials as needed
- Strong understanding of paving techniques and concrete forming processes
- Ability to operate loaders and excavators efficiently in support of paving tasks
- Excellent teamwork skills with clear communication abilities to coordinate with crew members effectively
