Role
Reporting to the Deputy Minister of Treasury Board and Finance, the Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM), Tax and Revenue Administration (TRA), provides strategic leadership for the administration of Alberta's tax, revenue, recovery, and benefit programs. In this highly visible executive role, you will lead a large division and oversee a significant operating budget, while shaping programs that safeguard public revenues and support the province's fiscal priorities.
Key responsibilities include overseeing registration, processing, audit, compliance, collections, and dispute resolution activities across a complex and diverse service portfolio. Providing leadership for the implementation and administration of tax and revenue legislation and policy, you will ensure a fair, effective, and accountable framework that strengthens public confidence in Alberta's fiscal system. You will also champion continuous improvement, business modernization, and technology-enabled service delivery, positioning Alberta revenue programs to respond to emerging challenges, while enhancing efficiency, accountability and client outcomes.
Through strategic partnerships across government, industry, and stakeholder communities, you will advance policy priorities, deliver results, and build organizational capacity.
As a member of the ministry's Executive Team, you will share accountability for provincial tax policy, enterprise-wide priorities, and cross-ministry initiatives that support the Government of Alberta's strategic objectives. Operating within a highly complex legislative, fiscal, and stakeholder environment, you will balance competing priorities while ensuring sound stewardship, legislative compliance, exceptional client service, and operational excellence.
Success in this role requires a collaborative and influential leader with exceptional strategic insight, political acuity, and ability to trust and drive results through solid relationships, strategic insight, and a commitment to public service excellence.
Qualifications
You are a seasoned executive leader with experience leading large, complex multi-stakeholder organizations. You have a proven track record of managing significant budgets, leading diverse teams, and partnering with senior government officials, executives, and key stakeholders to achieve strategic outcomes.
Experience in revenue administration, taxation, regulatory environments, or the delivery of large-scale public sector programs is a significant asset. Demonstrated success in business modernization, digital transformation, and the oversight of complex audit, compliance, collections, or dispute resolution functions is highly desirable.

sound judgment, transformational leadership skills, and a strong commitment to public service. Leveraging strong systems thinking and sound judgment, you effectively navigate complexity, mitigate enterprise risks, and drive organizational performance through collaboration, innovation, and accountability. Success in this role requires leading through an evolving landscape shaped by technological advancement, AI-enabled service delivery, regulatory and security requirements, changing taxpayer expectations, and continuous business and service modernization.
A bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, or a related discipline is required. A recognized professional designation, such as a CPA or an equivalent legal or financial credential, is considered a strong asset.
Salary
$7,212.78 - $9,465.95 bi-weekly ($188,253.56 - $247,061.30 annually)
