As we prepare to open the Ng Siu Chan Centre, our newest long-term care home, we are seeking passionate and dedicated Assistant Director of Resident Care who wants to help shape the culture, resident experience, and care environment from day one.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the opening of a new home and help create an exceptional experience for residents, families, and team members.

In consultation with the Executive Director, plans and develops a high quality nursing care service that complies with relevant government legislations, policies and standards, and reflects the organization's vision, strategic direction and resident centred approach.

Qualifications

Registered Nurse with current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario; Bachelor's degree in Nursing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Minimum 4 years nursing experience, including experience in Geriatrics, Rehabilitation and Long Term Care Nursing, and at least 3 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity in a health care setting, preferably in long term care

Current CPR Certificate

Strong leadership abilities. Ability to be flexible and agile and be a change leader in a highly demanding environment

Ability to build, manage and coach an effective, engaged,



and high functioning team

Excellent conflict resolution and problem solving skills. Strong presentation skills

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Superb customer service skills

Computer literacy required

Experience with preparing and monitoring financial budgets.

Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screen result

Ability to communicate in Chinese, an asset.

Responsibilities

Assists the Director of Resident Care in implementing high quality nursing services

Hires appropriate staff to complement the team, and coaches, develops, monitors and evaluates staff to ensure an agile, effective, efficient and engaged team

Ensures compliance of staff scheduling policies and procedures

Oversees resident care of the assigned units including monitoring, communication with residents, families and prompt intervention

Assesses training needs of the department, and coordinates staff development programs, including orientation, in-service and certificate programs for the professional and non-professional nursing staff, to ensure a strong, effective and efficient team

Provides leadership and coordinates and implements the RAI-MDS, CQI, Infection Prevention & Control, Restorative programs, and Health and Safety programs within the Department

Reviews policies and procedures relating to nursing and resident care and health and safety issues,



and recommends changes to the Director as necessary

Coordinates and ensures accurate and up-to-date documentation and information on all digital applications/systems used in the Department

Coordinates special programs or projects as assigned

Implements effective risk management and quality improvement programs, including infection control, occupational health and safety, incidents and falls, etc.

Acts as back up to the (Assistant) Director of Resident Care in their absence

Keeps up-to-date with developments and best practices in the field

Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

Occasional travel with the Greater Toronto Area

Salary Range: $51.79 - $60.92
