Litigation Lawyer – General Litigation & Mortgage Enforcement

Nanda & Associate Lawyers is seeking an experienced Litigation Lawyer to join our growing team. The successful candidate will independently manage a broad range of general civil and commercial litigation matters, as well as mortgage enforcement and power of sale files.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage civil and commercial litigation files from commencement through resolution
- Handle mortgage enforcement and power of sale matters on behalf of lenders
- Prepare demands, notices of sale, pleadings, affidavits, motion materials, facta and settlement agreements
- Advise lender clients regarding defaults, enforcement strategies, priorities and recovery options
- Handle debt-recovery and judgment-enforcement proceedings, including garnishments, writs and examinations in aid of execution
- Attend motions, applications, examinations, discoveries, mediations and trials
- Negotiate settlements and provide practical, results-oriented advice
- Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel and other parties
- Maintain accurate files and meet all procedural and limitation deadlines
- Assist in developing the firm’s litigation and mortgage-enforcement practice

Qualifications





- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- At least three years of Ontario litigation experience preferred
- Experience in mortgage enforcement and power of sale proceedings is preferred
- Strong knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure
- Excellent drafting, advocacy, negotiation and analytical skills
- Ability to independently manage files and priorities
- Strong organizational, communication and client-service skills
- Existing lender relationships or a portable practice would be considered an asset but are not required
