We are looking for a knowledgeable, customer-focused Automotive Service Advisor / Service Writer with hands-on technician experience to join our service team. This role is ideal for someone who understands vehicle diagnostics, repair processes, shop workflow, and customer communication. You will be the key connection between customers, technicians, parts suppliers, and management, helping ensure accurate repair orders, clear estimates, efficient scheduling, and an excellent customer experience.

What You’ll Do

· Greet customers, listen to vehicle concerns, and accurately document symptoms and service requests.

· Use automotive technical knowledge to interpret customer concerns and communicate clearly with technicians.

· Create detailed repair orders with customer concerns, technician notes, diagnostic findings, recommended repairs, parts, labour, and approvals.

· Prepare and explain estimates, including parts, labour, shop supplies, taxes, warranty coverage, deductibles, and optional recommendations.

· Schedule appointments, coordinate shop workflow, and monitor repair progress throughout the day.

· Explain repair recommendations in clear, professional language and answer questions about cost, timelines, and service priorities.

· Obtain customer authorization before proceeding with repairs, diagnostics, or changes to approved estimates.

· Coordinate parts availability, ordering, substitutions, returns, and delivery timelines with suppliers and internal staff.

· Keep customers updated on vehicle status, delays, additional findings, completion times, and pickup requirements.

· Review completed work orders for accuracy and explain completed repairs at vehicle pickup.

· Process invoices, payments, warranty claims, maintenance records, and customer follow-ups as required.

What We’re Looking For





· Previous experience as an Automotive Service Advisor, Service Writer, Automotive Technician, Apprentice Technician, or similar role.

· Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, inspections, repair procedures, and common automotive systems.

· Ability to translate technical repair information into clear customer explanations.

· Excellent customer service, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

· Comfortable working in a fast-paced shop environment with changing priorities and multiple active repair orders.

· Strong computer skills and ability to use shop management software, estimating systems, email, and digital inspections.

· Ability to prepare accurate estimates and maintain detailed customer and vehicle records.

· Valid driver’s licence and clean driving record preferred.

Nice to Have

· Journeyperson Automotive Service Technician certification, Red Seal certification, or equivalent hands-on shop experience.

· Experience with domestic, import, light truck, diesel, fleet, or specialty vehicles.

· Knowledge of warranty processes, maintenance schedules, parts catalogues, labour guides, and digital vehicle inspection tools.

· Experience performing road tests, basic inspections, or diagnostic intake support.

· Sales or customer retention experience in an automotive repair, dealership, or service centre environment.

Pay: $80,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
