Demitasse Cafe is a thriving (25 years and counting!), high volume staple in Oak Bay. We pride ourselves on great coffee, a bustling atmosphere, and a genuine supportive work culture. We are a self motived team that value individuality, and are looking for a part time barista to join our front of house team.

Seeking someone with experience when it comes to coffee, but who also can thrive in a rapid paced environment and genuinely enjoys connecting with people. You will craft exceptional espresso, keep the line moving, and contribute to the positive energy of our business.

This is a great position for a student or someone in the area looking for some extra income.

Responsibilities

- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, teas, and specialty drinks efficiently and accurately using POS systems such as Micros POS.
- Greet customers warmly, take orders, and provide personalized service to ensure a positive experience.
- Handle cash transactions accurately, including cash handling and cashiering duties, while maintaining proper register procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workspace, including food preparation areas and dining spaces,



adhering to food safety standards.
- Assist in food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches or snacks as needed to meet customer demands.
- Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure prompt service and minimize wait times.
- Follow all food safety guidelines related to food handling and hygiene to ensure the health and safety of customers and staff.

Requirements

- Previous barista experience or food service experience is preferred
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and positively with guests.
- Basic math skills for cash handling, making change, and processing transactions accurately.
- Knowledge of food safety practices and proper food handling procedures.
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively during high-volume periods.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, perform cleaning tasks, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: From $18.25 per hour
