Duration: Full time, Regular

Salary:Salary positing is on the established grid and is pro-rated to Canopy’s fiscal year, $56,876.88 - $71,967.40.

The Behaviour Consultant (BC) works as part of the Behavioural Consultation Services (BCS) team to ensure the organization’s vision, mission, core values and strategic directions are developed and implemented.

The Behaviour

Consultant provides evidence-based behavioural services to empower individuals, caregivers, and partner agencies within the Peterborough, Haliburton, Kawartha Pine Ridge and Northumberland area.

The Behaviour

Consultant utilizes Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) within a biopsychosocial framework to deliver identified behaviour intervention supports.

Consultant researches relevant literature and designs, monitors, and evaluates behaviour intervention plans to support desired treatment outcomes in line with the individual’s goals.

Consultant’s role is to ensure that best practices are followed, and quality service is delivered while enhancing the overall quality of life and independence for individual’s accessing services.

Key accountabilities include:

- Provide advanced behavioural services and training using Applied Behaviour Analysis within a biopsychosocial framework to individuals, families, service agencies and other settings as requested
- Provide ongoing monitoring and reassessment of intervention strategies and resolve barriers for individual’s goal attainment through adjusting implemented strategies as needed or in consultation with the Clinical Manager or Clinical Supervisor to support newly identified goals, medication changes or new diagnosis as needed.




- Conduct regular reports pertaining to prevention and intervention procedures or environmental modifications including; General Consultations, Individual Training Plans, Behaviour Support Plans, Behaviour Crisis Management Plans, Progress Reports, and Discharge Reports.
- Develop training programs for service users, mediators, and group teaching as required.
- Provide regular workshops, professional development seminars and other training opportunities for the community, caregivers and other developmental service agencies as needed.
- Research and review relevant literature and design for behaviour intervention implementation.
- Ongoing collaboration and clinical direction from the Clinical Supervisor regarding program recommendations and case management support including monthly clinical supervision and additional support as needed.

Education, Training and Experience:

- Bachelor Degree in Psychology or Behavioural Science or equivalent.
- Registered Behaviour Analyst with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario qualifications or ability to obtain RBA (Ont.) is an asset.
- 5+ years’ experience in caseload management or short-term consultation experience.
- Demonstrated experience of using best practice in supporting service users.
- Direct experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities, dual-diagnosis disabilities, mental health or other diagnoses.
- Direct experience working with children, youth and adults with developmental delays, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and other diagnoses.
- Project management and leadership experience.




- Annual completion of a Criminal Background Check/Declaration, including Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS).
- First Aid CPR Level C and ASIST Training.
- Crisis Intervention Safe Management training.
- Valid G-Class driver’s license for the Province of Ontario, access to reliable transportation and have valid proof of automobile insurance with driving for business purposes and a minimum liability of two million dollars.
- Completion of OHSA Worker Awareness training, Respect in the Workplace training, Mental Health First Aid , AODA and QAM awareness.
