About the Role

Shift Physiotherapy is a multidisciplinary rehabilitation clinic in Scarborough seeking a Certified Orthotist / Prosthetist to provide and help grow our custom orthotics and bracing services.

We are looking for someone experienced with custom AFOs, neurological bracing and lower-extremity orthoses, particularly for patients with stroke, foot drop, neurological conditions, gait impairment and lower-extremity weakness.

The clinic provides treatment space, administrative support, internal rehabilitation referrals and opportunities for collaboration with physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform comprehensive orthotic and gait assessments
- Recommend and prescribe appropriate custom AFOs, KAFOs and other orthotic devices
- Complete measurements, casting and/or 3D scanning as required
- Coordinate custom fabrication with orthotic laboratories
- Fit, dispense, adjust and follow up on custom orthoses and braces
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation
- Complete applicable ADP documentation and funding applications
- Assist eligible patients with ADP, ODSP and other applicable funding processes
- Collaborate with physicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and other healthcare providers





Required Qualifications
- Current Certified Orthotist – CO(c) designation
- In good standing with the appropriate Canadian certifying organization
- Professional liability insurance
- Experience assessing, prescribing and fitting custom orthotic devices
- Experience with custom AFOs and lower-extremity bracing
- Strong understanding of gait, biomechanics and neurological rehabilitation
- Strong communication and documentation skills

Strongly Preferred
- Currently registered as an Ontario Assistive Devices Program (ADP) Orthotic Devices Authorizer
- Existing ADP Authorizer number
- Experience completing ADP applications
- Experience working with ODSP-funded patients
- Experience with stroke, foot drop and neurological conditions
- Experience with traditional casting and/or digital 3D scanning
- Existing relationship with an orthotic fabrication laboratory

Pay: $50.00-$200.00 per hour
