Program Background The Tonga Australia Support Platform (TASP) is a mechanism which supports the work of the Australian Government in meeting development objectives in Tonga. It is a multi-sector development facility that uses multiple modalities including development program management, technical advisory support, grants management, and subcontracting. TASP also supports Australian Government policy development and dialogue to deliver the desired outcomes.

TASP delivers programs in the health, governance, skills development and gender pillars.

The Health Pillar provides technical and additional resourcing support to the Tonga Health System Support Program, the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) 20-year commitment to Tonga’s health sector.[1] In its final phase, the Objective of THSSP4 is that the Government of Tonga has an effective, resilient and inclusive health system that reduces the burden of disease, especially for NCDs.

The role will

· Serve as the Ministry of Health focal point for the Tonga Climate Adaptation Health Strategy.

· Coordinate the development of the Tonga Climate Adaptation Health Strategy and associated action plans.

· Work closely with MOH, SPC and WHO to ensure the Strategy aligns with national climate change policies, the Tonga Strategic Development Framework, disaster risk management policies and health sector priorities.

· Facilitate coordination and collaboration across relevant sectors, including health, environment, climate change, water, agriculture, disaster management and infrastructure.

· Coordinate and monitor implementation of activities to support the timely achievement of agreed program targets.

· Track implementation progress, outcomes and risks, and support the development and application of mitigation measures where risks to completion of the Strategy are identified.

About You

Essential Experience and Knowledge

· Minimum five years of experience in program management, public health, climate change adaptation, environmental health, disaster risk management, or related fields.

· Experience working with government agencies,



donor-funded programs, or development partners.

· Experience in project planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting.

· Experience facilitating stakeholder engagement and multi-sectoral coordination

Desirable

· Experience working within Pacific Island countries.

· Familiarity with WHO climate-resilient health systems frameworks.

· Strong facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and report-writing skills.
