Summary of the position The GRD Press Programmer’s primary function is to process and program orders for the lasers, CNC, and automated panel benders using a variety of software specific to each brand of machine. They strive to ensure that timely work is made available to the Press team while endeavoring to ensure workloads are evenly distributed between all the stations. They have a responsibility to reduce scrap by optimizing sheet layouts to minimize scrap percentages.
Duties and Responsibilities Interpretation of technical drawings
Consideration of tooling used to cut certain materials, speed of cut or adding features (for example – embossing)
Program applicable cutting and panel bending stations in the Press department
Cross train on multiple cutting stations to ensure adequate backup/coverage throughout the Programming team
Troubleshoot and correct programming issues Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives with a goal of improving processes and increasing accuracy within the team.
